Season Ticket Holder Update

OHL Announces Updated Timeline for 2020-21 Season

The Ontario Hockey League announced today an updated timeline on its Return to Play plan for the 2020-21 season as it continues to work with government and health agencies to finalize outstanding matters that help ensure the health and safety of all members of the OHL community.

“Although we are eager to get back on the ice, the safety and well-being of our players, staff, officials, tremendous fans and communities remains paramount,” said OHL Commissioner David Branch. “We remain committed to providing our players with a safe, first-class development experience as they pursue their professional and academic goals, and we look forward to the planned opening of our Regular Season on Thursday, February 4.”

Under the new timelines, OHL Training Camps are scheduled to commence on Saturday, January 23 in preparation for the 2020-21 Regular Season that will feature a 40-game schedule running from Thursday, February 4 through Saturday, May 8. Teams will play primarily against opponents in their geographic region in an effort to reduce travel in consideration of the health and safety of all players and staff. Details concerning the structure of team alignment will be made available upon release of the 2020-21 OHL Regular Season schedule.

A total of eight teams will qualify for the 2021 OHL Playoffs in pursuit of the J. Ross Robertson Cup that get underway on Tuesday, May 11. The OHL Playoffs will consist of three rounds, the first being a best-of-five opening round, followed by two best-of-seven formats to crown a League champion by no later than Monday, June 14. The 2021 Memorial Cup presented by Kia is scheduled to begin Thursday, June 17 in either Oshawa or Sault Ste. Marie.

2020/21 Season Ticket Membership Suspended

Due to the Ontario Hockey League’s announcement regarding this upcoming season along with the uncertainty regarding how many fans will be allowed to attend our home games we have decided to suspend all season ticket memberships for the 2020/21 season. Current season ticket holders will have their seats reserved for the 2021/22 season. A full refund will be made to all season ticket holders for any/all payments made towards the 2020/21 season along with their credit from the final two cancelled home games from the 2019/20 season. Due to logistics with the ticketing system its possible that you may see these come through as two different transactions.

If you were a season ticket holder and opted out of your renewal due to COVID-19 you will have until Tuesday November 17th to opt back into your seats for the 2021/22 season (should they still be available). If your previous seats are no longer available, you will have the opportunity to choose new seats. If you are unsure whether your seats are still held under your account or not, then please contact Matt DiBerardino, Manager of Ticket Sales at 705-574-0090 or email matt@soogreyhounds.com.

When we are provided with more information regarding what the 2020/21 schedule looks like and how many fans can attend, we will be creating ticket package options. Our loyal and valued current season ticket holders will have priority access to these ticket packages on a first come, first serve basis. At that point in time, due to the social distancing protocols that will have to be in place, we will not be able to guarantee any season seat locations.

Refund Protocols

If you were on a credit card payment plan, placed a deposit via credit card, or paid in full via credit card, you will automatically be refunded back onto your credit card (no action required from your end). As mentioned earlier, these may come through as two separate transactions (one for the 2019/20 cancelled games and one for any/all payments made towards the 2020/21 season).

We will have more information next week as to what the protocol is for season tickets holders that were on the direct withdrawal payment plan, placed a deposit via debit or cash, or paid in full via debit or cash.

Please note: Due to the high volumes of refunds that will be taking place, you can expect to see the refund in the coming weeks.
